DCH hosting Outreach Day

The Delaware Center for Horticulture will host the 2017 Regional Intern Outreach Day, bringing over 130 horticulturists, interns, and staff members from 15 organizations throughout the region to Wilmington to participate in planting, public landscapes, and maintenance projects.

The day is Thursday, July 13 from 9 a.m. to noon at DCH, 1810 N. Dupont Street in Wilmington.

Students and staff from Bartram’s Garden, Chanticleer, James G. Kaskey Memorial Park (UPenn), Jenkins Arboretum, Longwood Gardens, Morris Arboretum of the University of Pennsylvania, Mt. Cuba Center, PHS Meadowbrook Farm, Rutgers Gardens, Scott Arboretum of Swarthmore College, DCH, Tyler Arboretum, UD Botanic Gardens, Wilmington State Parks, and Winterthur will work on projects including removing harmful and invasive plants in Rattlesnake Run in Brandywine State Park, removing debris and invasive plants from Wilmington’s Conaty Park, and weeding, harvesting, and bagging compost at the E.D. Robinson Urban Farm at 12th and Brandywine, among others.

This annual event provides meaningful outreach experience for regional interns and focuses on service while providing opportunities for networking and professional enrichment. Projects will be ongoing throughout the morning.a
